How do I get started?

Please email me directly if you’d like to arrange for a free 15-minute consultation before getting started.

If we have worked together in the past and you are hoping to reestablish, please email me directly and we can bypass the consultation.

Do you take insurance? How does that work?

I am currently in-network with the following insurances: Aetna & Meritain, Maine Community Health Options, Martin’s Point Generations Advantage, Cigna, Optum & United. If you plan to use your insurance, I highly encourage you to contact your insurance company directly before we get started so that you can verify your mental health benefits, inquire about copay/coinsurance, find out if your deductible will apply, and ask if the number of sessions will be limited. My full name is Elsbeth Burke and I am credentialed with insurances under my full name.

If I am out-of-network with your insurance, please know that many insurances offer out-of-network coverage for behavioral health services. You will need to pay for therapy at the time of service and I can provide you with a superbill for you to seek reimbursement with your insurance company. Many insurances offer out-of-network coverage. I do accept HSA cards.

What else do I need to know?

  • All sessions are 55 minutes in length

  • I use SimplePractice for scheduling, paperwork, and billing. After we confirm our first session, I will send out paperwork that you can complete virtually. This includes insurance information, demographics, privacy practices, HIPPA information, and intake questions.

  • I have a first-floor office in Portland with ample parking and additionally provide HIPPA-compliant virtual sessions. If you are coming in person, be aware there are stairs to enter the building and a waiting area just inside, just have a seat when you arrive and I will be out shortly. Newborns and young babies are welcome, just please be aware I don’t have a changing table accessible so please bring a changing pad.
